Obituary of Robert R. "Skip" Reed

Robert R. “Skip” Reed, age 79 formerly of Youngstown and Lewiston, died Wednesday July 30, 2014 in Suffern, NY where he has resided the last year. Skip was born January 8, 1935 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Russell B. and Estelle E. (Trench) Reed and attended local schools. He was an U.S. Army Veteran serving on active duty from 1953 to 1957, during which time he was stationed in Germany. In 1960 he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of Sgt. Skip married Shirley A. (McAllister) Reed on July 19, 1958 in Niagara Falls, NY. He was an Electrician with IBEW Local 237 in Niagara Falls, NY for 20 years. He also owned and operated his own electrical construction business for many years. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Richard (Renee) Reed of Darlington, SC, Robert (Bina) Reed of Richland, MI, Daniel (Kim) Reed of Youngstown, and Margaret (Patrick) Damiani of Suffern, NY; seven grandchildren, Colby, Andrew, Joshua, Corey, and Zachary Reed, Cosmo and Madison Damiani; a great grandchild, Brady Reed; a brother, Ronald (Madeline) Reed of Indian Trail, NC; three sisters, Dorothy Katz of Tarpon Springs, FL, Muriel (George) Roy of Friendswood, TX, and Florence Evans of Niagara Falls, NY; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Dominguez and four brothers, Willis, Kenneth, Frank, and Russell Reed, Jr. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Friday, August 29, from 4 – 7 pm. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13270.
