Obituary of Elaine E. Bentley

Elaine Elizabeth (nee Volante) Bentley, age 86 of Lewiston, passed away from this life with her family by her side on Sunday March 22, 2015 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, following a brief illness. Elaine was born December 16, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas and Flora (Cromwell) Volante. She graduated from Trott Vocational High School and in 1948 Elaine met and married the love of her life, John "Jack" Bentley. They were married on June 28, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church and have been happily married for 66 years. They resided in Lewiston. Elaine was employed by the Lewiston-Porter Central School System as a Teacher's Aide for 12 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends thru the years, and always had an open door to anyone who stopped by. She was always the jokester, and rarely was without a smile. Elaine enjoyed life to the fullest and she and Jack were inseparable. They were truly in love all the days of their lives together. Elaine is the devoted mother to her twin sons, Timothy Michael and Thomas John, both of Ransomville. Additional survivors are a sister in law, Suzanne Volante of Grand Island, NY, and a brother in law, Laurence Sullivan of Niagara Falls, NY. She was the dearest aunt and sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Francis C. Volante and a sister, Lillian B. Sullivan. Funeral Services and Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston will be private. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092.
