Alice C. Sargent, age 97 formerly of Youngstown, died Thursday March 26,2015 in the Absolut Care of Aurora Park in East Aurora, NY. Alice was born August 7, 1917 in Saylesville, RI, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Young) Groves. She married Thomas D. Sargent on June 7, 1941. They moved from Chicago to Youngstown in 1972. John predeceased her in 1998. An avid golfer, Alice was a former member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club,. She also enjoyed bowling. She is survived by two sons, Richard G. (Lois) Sargent of Brampton, Ontario, and Philip R. (Anna) Sargent of Whitby, Ontario; a brother, William Groves of Brampton, Ontario; and three granddaughters, Jennifer, Kimberly, and Amber Sargent. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur E. Groves. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, March 28, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd. Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 JohnJames Audubon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228 or to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13270-3049. .
