Douglas Ujeski

June 29, 1960 — March 5, 2024

Theodore “Douglas” Ujeski, 63, of Lewiston, NY passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 5th 2024 in his home under the loving care of Hospice. Born in England, at Prestwick Air Force base until his family moved to Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Catherine and Theodore Ujeski. Survived by a brother Vincent (Pamela) Ujeski, nieces, Vanesa Ujeski, Alison (Eric) Kolpack, Becky (Adam) Kolpack, nephew, Michael (Astrid) Ujeski, and former wife Olga Becker along with numerous relatives in Scotland. Doug was pre-deceased by brother Al Ujeski.


Doug worked full time at the Giacomo Hotel in Niagara Falls, NY as general manager, and spent many years as general manager of the Red Coach Inn, Niagara Falls where he was loved and admired by his staff and coworkers for being a compassionate boss and mentor to many, while forging lifelong friendships. Doug graduated with a BS in history from Franklin Pearce Collage in New Hampshire and received his master’s in education from Niagara University and upon graduation, immediately worked as a substitute teacher for Niagara Falls, and Niagara Wheatfield school districts. He was known for his incredible work ethic and for always helping others. Doug was a kind, generous, gregarious and loyal friend who will be sadly missed by his friends and loved ones.


Funeral arrangements will be handled by Hardison funeral home in Lewiston, NY and Entombment at Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY will be held privately at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s name can be made to Niagara Hospice in Lockport, NY.
