Margaret A. Conaway

Margaret A. Conaway, age 89, of Lewiston, formerly of Niagara Falls, Melbourne, FL and Yakima, WA died Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, at home in Lewiston. Margaret was born June 2nd, 1934, in Lock Haven, PA. She is the daughter of the late Leslie and the late Celestine (Baker) White. She was a 1952 graduate of LaSalle H.S, attended ECC for community planning, Buffalo State College, Ithaca College and Duke University for various human relations, aging and human development courses and seminars. Margaret married Dennis Conaway on May 30, 1953; he predeceased her on March 20th, 2010.

Margaret retired in 1990 from the Town of Lewiston as the Director of Senior Services, previously working as the Executive Director with the Golden Age Clubs of Niagara Falls, NY, Senior Program Director with Health Association of Niagara County (HANCI) and serving on the Niagara Falls Board of Education.

She is survived by two daughters; Denise (Michael) Conaway-Crogan and Cheryl Conaway (James Woolridge); her sister, Susan Roell; daughter in law, Nancy Conaway; sister-in-law, Mary Jane White. Grandchildren, Caylen (Cassandra), and Peter Wojcik; great grandchild, Luke Wojcik; nephews, Steven and Christopher Roell.

She is predeceased by her son Lawrence Conaway, her siblings, Richard White and Robert White.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on a date TBD at St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, NY. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven All Saints Mausoleum.
