Cheryl Leigh Shoop

November 15, 1961 — July 24, 2025

Lockport, New York

Cheryl Leigh Shoop, of Cambria, NY, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice.

Born in Newfane, NY on November 15, 1961, Cheryl was the daughter of the late Ray Bennett and Elizabeth (née Skutt) Hollenbaugh. A proud graduate of Royalton Hartland Central School’s Class of 1979, Cheryl built a life defined by dedication and care—first working at Mount View Health Care Facility and later thriving in her role as a paralegal until her retirement in 2022.

On October 12, 1996, Cheryl married the love of her life, Daniel Shoop, in a heartfelt ceremony at North Ridge United Methodist Church. Together, they shared a journey rich in laughter, travel, and quiet joys. Cheryl found delight in sewing, camping, and exploring the world, often with her beloved pups—Hollywood, Blake, and Gizmo—by her side. She was the unwavering heart of her family, offering constant encouragement and wisdom to those lucky enough to know her.

Besides her parents, Cheryl is predeceased by her caring brother Andrew Bennett.

Above all, Cheryl’s legacy is one of love. She is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel; her children, Shannon (Dereck) Zimmerman, Sheri Patterson, and Shawn (Colleen) Wruck; and her adored grandchildren, Faelyn, Jermaine Jr., Garrett, Sophea, Jordan, Paige, Gemma, and Crew. Her presence will be deeply missed by her siblings, Elizabeth (John) Taylor, Ray (Fran) Bennett, and Dan (Bessie) Bennett, as well as by her nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The Shoop family extends their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support received during this difficult time. They invite all who knew Cheryl to join in honoring a life beautifully lived—a devoted wife, nurturing mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend.
