Dennis D. Smith

Dennis D. Smith, of Ransomville, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice House. He was born on May 7, 1963, in Newfane, New York, to the late Donald J. Sr. and JoAnn V. (nee Kneeppel) Smith.

A graduate of Lewiston Porter High School, Class of 1981, Dennis dedicated much of his career to Pfeiffer Foods in Wilson, working there for 20 years before continuing his professional journey at Globe Metallurgical, Inc. and later Durez Corporation, where he worked until May 2025.

Dennis was a true outdoorsman, passionate about hunting, fishing, and all things nature-related. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, always cheering for his team. He found joy in scraping and working, staying busy with hands-on tasks. Above all, Dennis deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Dennis will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family, love of the outdoors, and hardworking spirit. His legacy of kindness and dedication lives on in those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dennis is survived by his loving daughters, Hailey (Anthony) Marino and Heather (Jamarr) Smith, cherished grandchildren, Carmen, Lilly, Vanessah, Michael and Giovanni, as well as his caring siblings, Yvonne (George) Maracle and his twin brother, Donald J. (Patti-Jo) Smith, Jr. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dennis’s life at a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1 PM at Tuscarora Mission, 5035 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY, officiated by Rev. Donald Robinson. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at 2 PM.

In honor of Dennis’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
