Dorothy R. Rice

Dorothy R. Rice of Ransomville, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Niagara Hospice House. She was 73.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY on November 25, 1952, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Thomas and Thelma (née Price) Siegrist. She was a 1970 graduate of LaSalle Senior High School.

Dorothy began her career as a hairdresser, a role in which her warm personality and easy conversation made her a natural. She later became well known throughout Niagara County for her many years of waitressing, always greeting her customers with a smile and a kindness that made everyone feel welcome.

Above all, Dorothy cherished time spent with her beloved grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jodi (Jim) Woock, of Youngstown,NY; her treasured grandchildren, Craig and Sarah Woock; and her dear sisters, Bonnie (Harry) Knarr, Wauchula, FL and Judy (Richard) Kalita, Balston Lake, NY. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Anita Heary of Niagara Falls, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
