Dorothy A. Stephens

Dorothy A. Stephens, age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, under the compassionate care of Orleans Hospice. A devoted nurse, cherished sister, and beloved aunt, Dorothy’s life was marked by quiet strength, kindness, and a deep commitment to caring for others.

Born in Burlington, Vermont, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Steve and Catherine (née Metzinger) Stephens. She pursued her passion for nursing at Riverside City Community College, where she earned her Associate Degree in Nursing. Dorothy dedicated her career to serving the residents of Erie County Nursing Home in Alden, NY as a Licensed Practical Nurse, offering comfort and compassion to those in need.

Dorothy was predeceased by her dear sister, Eileen Herstek (late Walter). She is survived by her caring brother, James Stephens (Jennie); her loving niece, Cindy Popp (Mike); and her nephew, Rick O’Hara (Judy). Her family and all who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, unwavering dedication, and the warmth she brought into their lives.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, where Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at North Ridge Cemetery in the Town of Cambria.
