Edward L. “Ted” Hogan, of Ransomville, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on April 30, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by his beloved wife and daughter and under the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice.
Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Ted was the son of the late Charles and Catherine (née Dunham) Hogan. A 1954 graduate of Trott Vocational, he began his career as an electrician apprentice at Carborundum before answering the call to serve his country. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958, Ted was later recalled into the Reserves during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
On September 23, 1961, Ted married the love of his life, Sally A. Cain, in Ransomville Methodist Church. Together, they built a home filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories in Ransomville, NY. Ted devoted his career to Harrison Radiator Company, retiring in 1998 after a long tenure as an electrician.
Ted had a deep commitment to his community, serving as a proud member of the Ransomville Fire Company for over 60 years, including 30 years as Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. His civic involvement extended to the Town of Porter Assessment Review Board, and he was an active member of the Niagara County Sportsman Club. In his retirement, he could be found at Jeffrey’s repair shop, answering the phones, offering his assistance and was first in line for “Pizza Fridays.”
An avid outdoorsman, Ted’s passion for hunting, NASCAR, DIRT track racing, and the Buffalo Bills brought him great joy. He could often be seen reading books, while admiring and enjoying the outdoors. His yard was his canvas, meticulously cared for and admired by all who passed by. His love for nature and sports was matched only by the love he had for his family.
Ted was preceded in death by his son, Geoffrey L. Hogan, and his brothers, Richard (late Elizabeth) Hogan and Eugene (late Lois) Hogan. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Sally A. Hogan; loving daughter Jennifer A. (Buck) Lewis; and cherished grandchildren Joshua (Rachel) Lewis, Jonathon (Justyce Fenlason) Lewis, and Allison Hogan. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC. A celebration of Ted’s life will be held at a later date, to be announced by his family.
If desired, memorial donations may be made in Ted’s honor to the Ransomville Fire Company Ambulance Fund or the Ransomville Free Library**.
