George D. Perry, Jr. of Ransomville, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 81. Born on January 3, 1945, in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late George D. Perry, Sr. and Ruth (Sutherland) Buttery.
George was a dedicated and skilled heavy equipment operator, working for more than 40 years with the Operating Engineers Local 463 Union. His work ethic, reliability, and mastery of his craft earned him the respect of colleagues throughout his long career.
On October 18, 1986, George married the former Darcy A. Weeks in Hartland, NY. Together they built a warm and welcoming home in Ransomville, where George’s presence, steady, hardworking, and full of quiet humor, became a cherished part of daily life.
Retirement did little to slow him down. George purchased a backhoe so he could continue doing what he loved: moving earth, staying active, and keeping himself busy. He was happiest puttering around his garage, always finding a new project or a task that needed doing. He was also very proud to have coffee with the guys at Knead the Dough in Ransomville, where he shared stories, laughter, and camaraderie with friends who became like family.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his siblings, Kenneth Sievart and Elma Chestnut.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Darcy; his loving children, Scott “Mo” Perry and Guy (Barbara) Perry; and his cherished granddaughter, Samantha Perry and grandson, Christopher Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will remember him fondly.
Arrangements are entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
