Gerald R. Buttery

Gerald R. Buttery, of Ransomville, NY, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Gerald was the beloved son of the late Wilbur and Edith (Carter) Buttery.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Gerald spent over four decades driving for multiple truck companies, earning the respect and friendship of many along the road. On February 14, 1970, he married the love of his life, Joanne L. Page, in Vestal, NY. Together, they built a warm and loving home in Ransomville, raising their family with strength and devotion.

Gerald’s heart was happiest in the outdoors—whether enjoying time at hunting camp or sharing laughs and stories with family and friends. He carried a lifelong love for racing, first revving engines at the Ransomville Speedway when he was just 13 years old.

He was predeceased by his siblings Lois Shaw, Martha (late Frank) Willms, and Shirley (late Kenneth) Chamberlain; and by his caring nephew, Henry “Hank” Willms.

Gerald is remembered with deep love by his wife of 55 years, Joanne; sons Thomas W. (Jennifer) Buttery and Walter Buttery; and cherished grandchildren, Grant and Levi. He is also survived by his brother, Morris Buttery; brother-in-law, Keith Shaw; niece, Lori (Nick) Nosko; nephews, Steven (Ann Marie) Willms and Todd (Kathy) Willms; and many extended relatives and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 3–7 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, June 24 at 10 AM, with Pastor Lonnie Thoms officiating. Interment will be held at Budd Road Cemetery.
