Jessie L. Michel has been called home to the Lord and is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Charles, with whom she shared an extraordinary 68 years of marriage.
Born on November 6, 1936, Jessie lived a life rooted in devotion, to her family, her faith, and the simple joys that brought her happiness. She passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and quiet grace that will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
Jessie was the cherished daughter of the late Lillian Grose Horn and Theodore Grose. She was also predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Michel, whom she married on September 15, 1956, and whose love remained a guiding presence throughout her life. She was further predeceased by her brothers, Lee Horn (surviving wife Joanne), Theodore (Shirley) Grose, and Howard Grose.
She is lovingly survived by her sister, Margaret (late John) Taylor, with whom she shared a very special, motherlike bond. Jessie was a proud and devoted mother to Charles T. (Kathy) Michel and James (Anna) Michel. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she was a deeply loved grandmother to Jessie Jesson, Jeff Jesson, Jason (Jennifer) Hess, Randy (Deborah) Ott, and Mark (Carly) Zimmer. She also treasured her special role as “Mema” to Andrew Jesson. Jessie was blessed with great‑grandchildren Emileigh Ott, Xander Ott, and Isabelle Bradley, each of whom brought her immense joy.
She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her kindness and gentle spirit. Jessie is also survived by her beloved cat, Minnie, who brought her comfort and companionship during the last year of her life, as well as her dedicated caregivers, Peggy, Melanie, Lisa, Margaret, Amber, and Michelle, whose compassion and support meant so much to her and her family.
Jessie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, traveling, watching birds, collecting antiques, and spending time camping with those she loved. These passions reflected her appreciation for beauty, her curiosity about the world, and her love of quiet, meaningful moments.
A lifelong member of the Rebekahs, Jessie also attended Ransomville United Methodist Church and Fillmore Chapel Church until their closing, where she found fellowship, purpose, and spiritual comfort.
Jessie worked at Harrison Radiator for many years before retiring in 1991. She was a proud member of UAW Local 686, where she enjoyed being part of their travel club and the friendships she formed along the way.
Above all, Jessie will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her gentle heart, and the steady, comforting presence she was in the lives of those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave so freely will continue to surround her family and friends forever.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, from 5-7 PM, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jessie’s honor to the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Company or Niagara Hospice.
