Lloyd E. “Weiner” Murray, 90, of Ransomville, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home. Born on January 31, 1935, in Brasher Falls, NY, the son of the late Edward H. and May (nee Dishaw) Murray.
In 1953, Lloyd enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving until 1956 as a ParaTrooper with the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division—an accomplishment he carried with deep pride throughout his life. After his military service, he worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway Power Project and later the Niagara Falls Power Project, the latter bringing him to Ransomville, where he made his home since 1959. In 1963 he started his long career with the Operating Engineers Local Union Number 463 now Local Union Number 17.
On December 29, 1965, Lloyd married the former Beverly R. Myers in Ransomville, and together they shared a devoted life until her passing. Known affectionately as “Weiner,” he was a familiar and well-loved presence in the community. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Hall, a 21-year member of the Elks, a Mason with Masonic Lodge #73 in Lockport, a member of the Wilson Conservation Club, and a proud 65-year member of the American Legion Post in Newfane.
Lloyd was happiest outdoors. He loved to fish, to hunt at the cabin in Bolivar, NY, and could often be found tending to his lawn on the ridge—something of a trademark sight to those who knew him. His easygoing nature, loyalty, and quiet humor made him a friend to many.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly; his loving daughter, Teresa Murray; his cherished great-grandson, Cayden Hunt; and his caring siblings, Chester (late Rose) Arquette, Gladys (late Lyle) Campbell, Pearl McGregor, Ernest (late Mayfred) Murray, Eleanor (late Howard) Belrose, Evelyn Root, Elizabeth (late Douglas) Clark, and twin Floyd (late Betty) Murray; and his best friend, Gordon Mawhiney.
He is survived by his loving children, Duane (Kim) Reynolds, Edward, and Tina Castile; cherished grandchildren, Amanda Castile, Justin (Paola) Reynolds, Matthew Castile, and Matthew (Brittany) Reynolds; and adored great-grandchildren, Clayton, Lucas, Riley, and Addison. He is also survived by his dear niece, Joan Eurto, caring nephew, Douglas Clark, his beloved dog, Daisy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 3–7 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM, concluding with Military Honors. A private interment will take place in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria.
