Lucas James Stunkel

Lucas J. Stunkel, 36, of the Town of Wilson, NY, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Born on May 20, 1990, in Roosevelt, Utah, Lucas was the beloved son of Jeffrey J. and Brenda L. (Dorrity) Stunkel. He was a 2008 graduate of Wilson High School.

Lucas lived life with remarkable energy, courage, and enthusiasm. He enjoyed golfing, snowboarding, hunting, and fishing, and he found his greatest passion in bull riding at rodeos. An avid skydiver, Lucas embraced adventure with a fearless spirit that inspired those around him.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, James and Evie Stunkel, and his maternal grandfather, Jerry Harper.

Lucas is survived by his loving parents, Jeff and Brenda; his caring siblings, James (Bridgett) Sursa, Veronica (Brian) Cortese, and Steven Stunkel; and his dear nieces and nephews, Aiclynn, Brody, Grace, Brayden, and Gavin. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY. A Celebration of Lucas’ life will be announced at a later date.
