Youngstown, New York

Mark S. Bucholtz, 70, of Youngstown, NY, passed away peacefully at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Born on April 18, 1955, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Jean E. (nee Taylor) Bucholtz. Mark was a proud graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School, Class of 1973. After graduation, he began working in the family business, Bucholtz Transmission in Tonawanda, where he dedicated many years of hard work and craftsmanship. In 1991, he became a partner in the business, continuing the family legacy with pride for 35 years.

On July 12, 1975, Mark married the love of his life, the former Virginia M. Kolb, at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Youngstown. Together they shared 50 years of devotion, partnership, and a life filled with family, laughter, and countless memories.

Mark was a man who embraced life’s simple joys. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club. He also enjoyed bowling, carpentry, and traveling—especially to Myrtle Beach, a place he held dear. His loyal dogs, Pebbles and Button, were constant companions who brought him great happiness.

In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his brother, Albert E. Bucholtz; his sister, Barbara Myers; and his brother-in-law, John Howell.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his loving children, Mark W. (Jennifer) Bucholtz, Robert (Melissa) Bucholtz, and Laura (Douglas) Brodie; and his cherished grandchildren, Kylie (Dan) Miller, Christopher Richardson, Nicholas, Aryannah, Cassandra Bucholtz, and Carolyn Brodie. Mark was also blessed with adored great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Vivienne, Bonnie, and Venus, who brought light to his later years. He is further survived by his dear sisters, Cynthia (Bryon) Carman and Kimberly Howell; his brother-in-law, Robert Krantz; as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 3–7 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11 AM at St. Bernard Church, 218 Hinman Street, Youngstown. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church.
