Patricia G. "Pat" Acome

Patricia G. “Pat” Acome, of Youngstown, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John J. Jr. and Mildred (nee Welder) Serba. On June 22, 1968, she married James D. Acome in the Youngstown First Presbyterian Church, and together they shared 57 years of devoted marriage.

Pat was known as a true social butterfly, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She found joy in gardening, birdwatching, and caring for animals. She loved bingo, playing cards, and could often be seen with a lottery ticket in hand. Pat delighted in garage sales, basket raffles, and the simple pleasures of community gatherings. She was always knowing numbers and dates and always had a witty saying to make you laugh. She was especially cherished for her safe haven toward neighborhood kids, always offering a comforting word, or a shoulder to lean on and a place to hang out.

In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her dear siblings, Sylvia Barrett and John J. Serba, III. She is survived by her beloved husband, James D. Acome; her loving children, James (Kristen) Acome and Jennifer McNeely; and her cherished grandchildren, Haley McNeely, Daniel Wade, Sydney Wade, Jessica McNeely, Nick Acome, and Brandon Acome. She is also survived by her caring ex-son-in-law, Charlie McNeely; her nephew, Joey (Janelle) Guetta; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 3–7 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM. Friends are invited.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Patricia’s honor to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Company, Lakeview Animal Sanctuary, or the Primate Sanctuary.
