October 7, 1944 – August 9, 2025Peter W. Hessinger, a lifelong resident of Niagara County, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 9, 2025, at ECMC after a brief illness. He was 80 years old.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Pete was the son of Alwyn G. “Hap” Hessinger, a Niagara Falls Fire Department Captain, and Ruth Parsons Hessinger, a kindergarten teacher. He was raised in Niagara Falls and attended Maple Avenue Elementary School, North Junior High, and Niagara Falls Senior High School.

Pete continued his education at Cornell University, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and later earned dual undergraduate degrees in chemistry and economics from the University of Miami.

His professional career began at Spencer Kellogg & Sons Co., followed by a role as a chemist at Numec Corporation. He later held various leadership positions in the chemical and engineering industries, ultimately serving as General Manager of INFINITEX in Clarence, NY.

Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Rebecca “Becky” Hessinger. He is survived by his son Greg and daughter in law Maggie Hessinger of Floyd, VA; two cherished grandchildren, Jagger and Halen; his feline companions Tiger and Alfie; and siblings: David (Loma Linda, CA), Philip (Youngstown, NY), and Julie (Syracuse, NY).

He and Becky made their home in Wilson, NY, for over 40 years, where they built a life full of love, laughter, and enduring friendships.Pete will be fondly remembered for his wit, generosity, and loving nature. To know him was to love him—and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of doing so.
