PFC Damian M. Mills

PFC Damian M. Mills, of the Town of Wilson, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was 22 years old.

Born on August 11, 2004, in Lockport, NY, Damian was the beloved son of Shannon R. Mills. Throughout his childhood and adolescence, he grew up in Ransomville, North Carolina, Lockport, and the Town of Wilson, forming meaningful connections and friendships in each place he called home. These communities shaped his character, his values, and the deep sense of loyalty he carried throughout his life.

Damian was a 2023 graduate of Wilson High School. During his school years, he was an enthusiastic athlete, especially drawn to track and field, where he excelled in pole vaulting. His fearless nature and determination made him a natural competitor. Outside of sports, Damian cherished time spent with his friends, and acting like a goofball, whether gathered outdoors, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the easy camaraderie that came so naturally to him.

He loved snowboarding, fishing, and hunting, embracing every opportunity to be outside. Damian also enjoyed traveling, and one of his most treasured memories was a trip to Tennessee with his father, a journey filled with laughter, exploration, and moments he carried with him proudly.

After graduating high school, Damian made the courageous decision to join the United States Army. He enlisted with a clear and resolute purpose: to defend his country and confront the evil he believed threatened it. His commitment to service reflected his strong sense of duty, his protective nature, and his desire to make a meaningful impact. At Fort Bliss, he served with honor and pride, earning the respect of those around him.

Damian’s playful spirit was one of his most endearing qualities. He loved to poke fun at his siblings, teasing them whenever he could, always with affection, humor and love. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth P. and Roseanna K. (Vance) Mills and his best friend “Tank” a blue pit.

Damian is survived by his loving mother, Shannon; his dad, Dennis Franjoine, II; and his caring siblings, Dennis (Rylee Hallows) Franjoine, III, A.J. Franjoine, Aiden Mills, and Jaxson Mills. He is also survived by his grandparents, Trisha (Ted) Kumm and Dennis (Robin) Franjoine, Sr.; his dear uncles, Tom (Mary) Vance and Josh Mills; cousins, Melanie, Maria, Camden, Jerry and Isabela; and a host of friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness, humor, and loyalty.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 2–4 PM and 6–8 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from St. Peter R.C. Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, at 10 AM. Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church. Full Military Honors will be rendered following Mass in recognition of Damian’s dedicated service to the United States Army.
