Rabeth J. Meikle, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at Buffalo General Hospital, at the age of 81. Born on October 23, 1944, in Evanston, IL, she was the daughter of the late Glen O. and Lucile (York) Paden.
On May 10, 1963, Rabeth married the love of her life, John B. Meikle, III, in Kansas, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted decades. Guided by a deep sense of compassion, she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse, a calling she embraced wholeheartedly throughout her life. She took great pride in her work in the NICU at Strong Memorial Hospital, where her gentle hands and steady presence supported countless families during their most vulnerable moments. Later in her career, she continued her mission of care through home health agencies, offering the same unwavering dedication and kindness to patients in the comfort of their homes.
Rabeth’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished time spent together and, in her retirement, found a peaceful and creative outlet in cross stitching, becoming an avid and talented stitcher. Her warmth, patience, and quiet strength were felt by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; her loving daughter, Heather A. Meikle; and her dear brother, Phil Paden.
Rabeth is survived by her devoted daughter, Christine E. (James) Woods, and caring son, Bertrand Y. Meikle; her cherished granddaughter, Emma; and her dear siblings, David (Janet) Paden and Rebecca Lipnick. She is also remembered fondly by extended family and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness.
