Robert “Bob” Palmer, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. He was 97.
Born in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, Scotland, Bob was the son of the late Ernest and Annie (Maxwell) Palmer. He proudly served in the British Army from 1946 to 1949, a formative chapter that shaped his lifelong sense of discipline and quiet strength.
In 1952, Bob married the love of his life, Jean G. Johnstone, in Niagara Falls, New York. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in devotion, resilience, and joy. Their marriage spanned 72 years until Jean’s passing in 2024—a testament to enduring love.
Bob worked as a manager and skilled glass blower for Occidental Chemical, where his craftsmanship and leadership earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. After retirement, he and Jean found joy in traveling throughout the southern United States, embracing the warmth of new places and shared memories.
A former member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club and an active participant at the Lewiston Senior Center, Bob was known for his gentle humor, thoughtful conversations, and unwavering kindness.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife Jean, Bob was predeceased by his dear son David Palmer and brothers Jack and Matthew Palmer.
He is survived by his loving sons, Brian Palmer and Iain Palmer; cherished grandchildren, Steven (Kim), Michael, Shannon, Jason, and Anna Palmer; and adored great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Kailyn, David, Shawn, and Lilliana. Bob is also fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 5–7 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 401 Ridge Street, Lewiston, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM. Robert will be laid to rest beside Jean in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery.
