Sanford W. Patterson, affectionately known to many as “Sandy” or “Fish,” of Ransomville, NY, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. He was 64.
Born on November 28, 1961, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Charles H. Sr. and Shirley P. (Koch) Patterson. Sandy was a 1979 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On July 16, 1988, he married the love of his life, Nancy Hewitt, at the Ransomville Free Methodist Church, and together they built a warm and welcoming home in Ransomville.
Sandy was a man who brought joy wherever he went. Whether known as “Sandy” or “Fish,” he had a gift for making people laugh and an easy way of brightening the days of those around him. He cherished time spent “hanging with his boys,” and he poured his energy into the things he loved most. A talented landscaper, he owned and operated *Mr. Mow It All*, taking great pride in his work and in the smiles of satisfied customers.
A devoted Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan, Sandy enjoyed every moment of cheering on his teams. His humor, warmth, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Sandy was predeceased by his caring brothers, Stephen (late Sue) Patterson and Spencer Patterson.
He is survived by his beloved bride, Nancy; his loving sons, Benjamin L. (Alora Brusino) Patterson and Michael C. (Mariel Brueckman) Patterson; his siblings, Charles Jr. (Debbie) Patterson, Christy Wopperer, Cornell (Mary Kay Freytag) Patterson, Cynthia (Jimi Lloyd) Patterson‑Landveld, and Suzanne Patterson; dear sister-in-law Gale Patterson. He is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, and great friends.
In keeping with his generous nature, Mr. Patterson donated his body to the UB Anatomical Gift Program, offering future medical professionals the opportunity to learn and grow.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date and at the convenience of the family.
If desired, memorials may be made in Sandy’s honor to the Ransomville Free Methodist Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
