Shirley F. Stephenson-Held of Lockport, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the age of 96, surrounded by her family and under the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice House.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Shirley was the daughter of the late Herman and Christina (née Steimle) Steigler. She graduated from Buffalo Public Schools and went on to build a life rooted in love, family, and community. She married the late Donald Stephenson, with whom she resided in Wilson, NY until his passing in 2001. Shirley later remarried Charles Held, who remained her devoted companion until his passing in 2020.
Shirley’s life was rich with simple joys. She loved fishing and swimming, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family and extended family. Known for her warmth and humor, she also delighted in sharing a cold beer among loved ones.
In addition to her parents and spouses, Shirley was predeceased by her dear sister, Molly Martin.
She is survived by her loving sons, Mitch (Terry) Stephenson, Mark (Rhonda) Stephenson, Matt (Cheri) Stephenson, Mike (Laurie) Stephenson, and Martin (Cathy) Stephenson; caring step-sons, Donald (Elizabeth) Held and Ronald (Jayne) Held; cherished grandmother of 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and laughter.
Arrangements entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
