Theresa Marie Murdoch

Theresa Marie Murdoch of Lewiston, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 29, 2025, at ECMC. She was 64.

Born and raised in Lewiston, Theresa was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Janine A. (VanDenBosch) Murdoch. A proud graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School, Class of 1979, she pursued her passion for nursing at Niagara County Community College, earning her Associate’s Degree before continuing on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from South West Louisiana University.

Theresa dedicated over 30 years of compassionate service to St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, where she was known for her steady presence, gentle care, and unwavering commitment to her patients and colleagues. Her work was not just a profession, it was a calling.

Outside of her career, Theresa found joy and peace in the outdoors. Whether boating on the river, hiking through the woods, or quietly walking in nature, she embraced every moment with gratitude. She was also an avid hunter, finding solace and strength in the rhythms of the natural world.

Theresa is survived by her loving children: Ryan (Michelle) Rueter of Rochester, NY; Michael Rueter of Sebastian, FL; and Tyler Rueter of the Town of Niagara. She is also survived by her caring brother, Michael Murdoch; her cherished niece and nephew, Brooke and Cole Murdoch; and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth, humor, and generosity.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 3–7 PM at Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc., 401 Ridge Street, Lewiston, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10 AM at St. Peters RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston. All are kindly asked to assemble at the church.
