Thomas D. Hanson

Thomas D. Hanson, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Erie County Medical Center. He was 70.

Born on January 30, 1956, in Niagara Falls, Tom was the son of the late David H. and Nancy L. (Simonds) Hanson. He was a 1975 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School and later attended Niagara County Community College. On June 14, 1980, he married the former Lori A. Smith in Niagara Falls, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 45 years.

For 43 years, Tom served as the Parts Manager for Southside Trailer Services in Tonawanda, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and steady work ethic. His commitment to service extended far beyond his career, Tom proudly served as a volunteer fireman with the Lewiston Fire Company, beginning at the age of 16 and continuing throughout his life as an exempt member.

Tom was a family man in every sense. His family was his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He loved camping, playing cards, and cheering on Buffalo’s sports teams, especially his beloved Buffalo Bills. A classic car enthusiast, Tom had a special fondness for his 1969 Cutlass Convertible.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his siblings, Peter Hanson, Mary Patricia “Trish” Labosky, and James (late Karen) Hanson.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Lori A. Hanson; his loving children, Ryan (Melissa) Hanson and Jennette (Thomas DeVille, Jr.) Hanson; and his cherished granddaughter, Nora. He is also survived by his dear sister, Jean (Daniel) Stopa; caring brother‑in‑law of, Mark Labosky, Cheryl (Bill) Kohler and Pam (Ray) Lawrence; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 4–8 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 401 Ridge Street, Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Peter RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, with Rev. Richard Csizmar officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown.
