William "Bill" James Scully, of the Village of Lewiston, passed away peacefully in his home, on June 5, 2025, surrounded by family and under the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice. He was 95 years old.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, on September 14, 1929, Bill was the son of the late William C. and Ella (née Brandel) Scully. At the age of 13, he moved to Niagara Falls, NY, later graduating from Lewiston Red Brick School. He embarked on a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, enlisting in 1947 and rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer E-8. During his service, Bill married the love of his life, Barbara "Bobbie" Streeter, and together they built a warm and loving home for their family.
Following his retirement, Bill and Bobbie returned to Lewiston and established the Village Vendor gift shop. Their shared passion for antiques and estate sales made weekends a treasured time of discovery and adventure. After Bobbie’s passing in 2007, Bill found comfort and companionship at the Lewiston Senior Center, where his warm smile and easygoing nature endeared him to all.
Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones will remain an enduring legacy.
Bill is survived by his loving children, Williams S. (Marsha) Scully of Youngstown, NY, and Betsy Sarli of Pensacola, FL. He was a cherished grandfather to Brian (Elizabeth) Scully, Andrew (Kelly) Scully, Karen (Philip) Notte, Nicholas (Kelly) Sarli, and Jessica (Chris) Cancino, and a proud great-grandfather to ten adored great-grandchildren.
The family will be present on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 2-5 PM at Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc., 401 Ridge Street, Lewiston, where funeral services will follow at 5 PM. Friends are invited to join in celebrating Bill's life.
