Willistine V. Browning

Willistine V. Browning passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family and caring aides. Her life was one defined by devotion, creativity, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Willistine found joy in the simple and meaningful things—sewing, tending to her flowers and garden, and baking. She was especially proud of the blue ribbon she earned in Youngstown for her exceptional peach pie. Above all, her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, whose lives were enriched by her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.

She was predeceased by her parents, Augustus and Sophie Callostipes, and her brothers, Peter and Louis Callostipes.

Willistine leaves behind her beloved husband, George Browning, with whom she shared an extraordinary 73 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Stephen) Lyle and Vicki (William) Smith; her son, David (Kimberly) Browning; and her cherished grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Follendorf, Megan (Greg) Stevens, William (Nicole) Smith, Adam (Janelle) Lyle, Katie (Mike) Smith, Kym (Nick) Elsenheimer, Jessica (Zack) Stamates, Luke (Bryna) Lyle, Kelsey Browning, Olivia Browning, and Kara Browning. She was also blessed with many great grandchildren, sister in law Delores (Bob) Winslow,as well as nieces and nephews who brought her endless joy.

Willistine is further survived by her dear friend, Betsy Boylan, whose friendship remained a treasured part of her life.

Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the love she shared so generously.

The family will be present at HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY 14131, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to receive family and friends from 4 PM–7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Peter R.C. Parish – St. Bernard Site, 218 Hinman Street, Youngstown, NY 14174. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church. Interment will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Lockport, NY.
